House Cole is a former noble house from the stormlands. They blazoned their arms with ten black pellets on scarlet.[1][2][N 1]

History
House Cole appears to be a vassal of House Dondarrion, in the Dornish Marches.
The greatest member of the house was Ser Criston Cole, the son of the steward at Blackhaven, the seat of House Dondarrion.[3] Criston became the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard under Viserys I Targaryen. Although King Viserys had wanted his successor to be Rhaenyra Targaryen, Criston placed Aegon II Targaryen on the Iron Throne and began the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. For that Criston was named the Kingmaker.[1] When Aegon II grew tired of Ser Otto Hightower's, his grandfather and Hand of the King, more diplomatic approach to the war appoints the warrior Cole in his place to take the fight to the blacks instead.[4] Criston is killed by three arrows while leading a host of greens though the riverlands in the Butcher's Ball.[5]

A Dance with Dragons
Dick and Will Cole are exiles serving with the Golden Company.[6] It is unknown if they actually descend from House Cole, as men of the free companies can take any name they want.[7]

- Will Cole, an exile serving with the Golden Company.[6]
- Dick Cole, an exile serving with the Golden Company.[6]

- Steward of Lord Dondarrion at Blackhaven during the late reign of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen.[3]
- Ser Criston Cole, his son. Known as the Kingmaker, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard under Viserys I Targaryen and Aegon II Targaryen.[3][8] Also Hand of the King under Aegon II.[4]
