For this treason, he is imprisoned in Dragonstone's dungeons, placed in the same cell as Ser Davos Seaworth.[12] When Ser Davos is retrieved from the dungeons, Alester's brother, Ser Axell Florent, denounces him as a traitor and takes the torch from his cell.[13]

The Iron Throne raises Ser Garlan Tyrell, the second son of Lord Mace Tyrell, to Lord of Brightwater Keep as a reward for the Battle of Blackwater.[11]

A Feast for Crows

Lord Alester is reported to have been sacrificed by Melisandre to R'hllor as a traitor. His son Alekyne succeeds him as the attained Lord of Brightwater Keep, though he has fled to Oldtown.[4]

Garlan is preparing men to press his claim on Brightwater Keep, which is held by Ser Colin Florent,[4] when news of the ironborn's taking of the Shields reaches him. He plans on gathering men to retake the islands instead of marching on Brightwater Keep.[14]
