Ormund Baratheon was the Lord of Storm's End and head of House Baratheon during the second half of the reign of Aegon V Targaryen and during the reign of Jaehaerys II Targaryen. He served the latter as Hand of the King, until his death whilst commanding the royal army in the invasion of the Stepstones in the War of the Ninepenny Kings. He was married to Princess Rhaelle Targaryen, the youngest daughter of King Aegon V. Ormund was the father of Steffon Baratheon and grandfather to Robert Baratheon, who would eventually overthrow House Targaryen and become the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms.
Ormund was the heir of Lord Lyonel Baratheon. Lord Lyonel rebelled against the Iron Throne after Prince Duncan Targaryen spurned Lyonel's daughter and married Jenny of Oldstones. The conflict was eventually settled and King Aegon V Targaryen's youngest daughter, Princess Rhaelle Targaryen, was betrothed to Ormund, and sent to live at Storm's End. In 245 AC they were married, and their son, and only known child, Steffon, was born a year later.
Ormund had inherited Storm's End already prior to his marriage. He became Hand of the King to his brother-in-law, King Jaehaerys II Targaryen, following the tragedy at Summerhall. When Jaehaerys decided to intervene militarily in the Stepstones to defeat the Band of Nine, Ormund was made commander of the expedition. He was one of the first to be killed, struck down by Maelys I Blackfyre, and died in the arms of his son and heir, Steffon. Command of the expedition passed to Ser Gerold Hightower, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, and Ormund was succeeded as Hand by Edgar Sloane.
The old castellan of Storm's End in 278 AC, Ser Harbert, was the great-uncle of Robert, Stannis and Renly Baratheon. Ser Harbert's family name is not stated in the books, he may have been an Estermont or a Baratheon. If it's the latter, then Harbert would be Ormund's younger brother.
